Turning Steel Byproducts Into Durable Carbon Removal.
Green Steel Carbon is developing enhanced rock weathering projects that repurpose calcium-rich materials from steel production for agricultural use, with the goal of generating high-quality, durable carbon removal credits while supporting soil health and crop productivity.

OUR MISSION
Putting Steel Byproducts to Productive Use
Green Steel Carbon develops enhanced rock weathering projects that connect industrial resources with agricultural land. By putting calcium-rich materials from steel production to productive use, we aim to support soil health while advancing durable carbon dioxide removal.
Enhanced Rock Weathering: Permanent Removal by Nature
A natural, passive process that durably removes CO₂ from the atmosphere — accelerated by spreading finely-crushed alkaline mineral on farmland.
1
Apply crushed rock
Finely-crushed alkaline feedstock is spread on agricultural land.
2
Accelerate weathering
COâ‚‚ in rainwater and soil reacts with the mineral, accelerating natural weathering.
3
Transported by water
Dissolved calcium, magnesium and carbonate move through soil and runoff.
4
Stored as bicarbonate
Carbon is converted to dissolved bicarbonate and transported toward the ocean.
5
Durable removal
Storage endures over geologic timescales — thousands of years.

Turning Industrial Resources Into Climate Solutions
Green Steel Indiana
Green Steel Indiana is our initial enhanced rock weathering project, bringing together the region’s steel industry and agricultural communities. The project is being developed to put calcium-rich materials from steel production to productive use on farmland, with the goal of supporting soil health and durable carbon removal.
Data-Driven Project Development
Green Steel Carbon uses geographic analysis to evaluate material sources, agricultural land, and transportation distances. This data-driven approach supports project planning, while scientific monitoring and verification will be essential to assessing carbon removal and building confidence in the resulting credits.
